Ukraine Goal of the Year 2018

Yevhen Konoplyanka’s strike against Slovakia in the UEFA Euro Nations League has been voted the Donetsk Way Ukraine Goal of the Year for 2018. Ukraine had already won the Group and weren’t at the races in the game in Trnava, but that didn’t stop Yevhen Konoplyanka from scoring this screamer. Olexandr Karavaev charged down the wing like a you Oleh Luzhnyi and his cross reached Konoplyanka on the edge of the box, the Schalke man unleashed a first time volley which flew into the top corner leaving the keeper with no chance. The goal briefly got Ukraine back into the game, but eventually Zbirna were sent packing with a hevay defeat. The goal was Konoplyanka’s fourth of the year in the Blue and Yellow of Ukraine, which meant he was also the top scorer in the 2018 calendar year for Andriy Shevchenko’s side. Konoplyanka’s goal was selected ahead of another three strikes on our Twitter vote. He top socred with 32% in a close battle, with Ruslan Malinosvkyi having two strikes (Vs Italy and Czech Rep) tied for 2nd and 3rd place.
